Video: California Soccer Babes Fly 5,000 Miles to See Oldham vs. Milwall

[digg=http://digg.com/soccer/California_Soccer_Babes_Fly_5_000_Miles_to_See_Oldham]From our News of Total Club Love and Devotion, UK newspapers are reporting the tale California girls Sara Mathew and Amber Allen spending a hefty $15,000 to travel 5,000 miles from sunny California to rainy Manchester and then London to see their beloved Oldham Athletic play Milwall in an English League One clash.

Apparently, the pair became Lactics fans after meeting several of its players on a holiday in the Cayman Islands.

Former L.A. Lakers cheerleader (or Laker Girl if you prefer) Sara told the Manchester Evening News: “We became acquainted and spent a few nights out enjoying the island.

“We began following Oldham games, listening to the commentaries and trying to familiarise ourselves with the sport.

“Without giving it too much thought, we booked a flight with no hotel reservations, no plans, and two tickets to the Oldham-Millwall game.”

Even though the Lactics went down 2-0 in London the globe-trotting soccer girls said that they will be back in Jolly Old England in December for their team’s meeting with Exeter City.

Oldham Athletic  managing director Simon Corney told the Oldham Advertiser that Sara and Amber’s next visit will be more of an event at the club.

He said: “They will be on the pitch doing the half-time draw. We might even get them to model the new kit.

“This is just the start of our plan for global dominance. We’re going to be bigger than United in America.”

Sara and Amber have since posted videos of their English soccer adventure on the internet for the world to see.

Perhaps they’ll become internet famous?
