Tournament favourite England was crushed by Germany in the UEFA European Under-21 Championship final in Malmo, Sweden yesterday.
Two goals from MSV Duisburg’s Sandro Wagner rounded off a 4-0 win for Germany to give them their first success in the tournament. Gonzalo Castro and Mesut Ozil also scored for the Germans.
The Germans are now the dominant youth power in Europe as they currently also are the UEFA Under-17 and Under-19 compatriots.
