Up-Close: Bulgaria 2018/19 Joma Home and Away Kits

Remembered for their fourth placed finish at FIFA World Cup 1994 and for star players such as Dimitar Berbatov and Hristo Stoichkov, Bulgaria are currently in contention for topping their UEFA Nations League group.

The Lions (Bulgarian: Лъвовете) debuted their 2018/19 home and away kits from BFU technical partner of the last four years Joma during their two wins in the last round of Nations League action earlier this month. Here is a World Exclusive up-close look at both.

Bulgaria 2018/19 Joma Home Kit

Before Stoichkov and company made the semi-finals of USA 94, Bulgaria’s biggest footballing achievement was earning the silver medal at the 1968 Olympic Games. The fiftieth anniversary of this accomplishment is celebrated using an all-white home kit inspired by the simple v-neck jersey worn by the Bulgarian men’s national team at Mexico 68.

The Bulgaria 2018/19 Joma home shirt is made of a lightweight, polyester fabric with an eye-catching grid of small squares throughout. It has a unique ribbed polo collar / v-neck combination with an insert at its front.

Bulgaria’s 1968 Olympic Games Silver Medal-Winning Men’s Football Team

The v-neck is relatively low and clearly based on the neckline of the 1968 Olympic jersey. The red and green of the Bulgarian national flag are included on the kit via two small lines of stitching at the bottom of the v-neck. All white ribbed sleeve cuffs match the polo collar and neck insert.

Again inspired by the 1968 kit, the Bulgaria Football Union crest is stitched onto the middle chest area just beneath the neckline. A traditional Bulgarian pattern is printed in the colors of the country’s flag on the outside upper back.

Bulgaria 2018/19 Joma Away Kit

Bulgaria’s 18/19 Joma away jersey has a classic football shirt appearance about it thanks to it s polo collar and two buttoned placket. In the traditional away red of Bulgarian soccer, the jersey includes the red and green of the country’s flag as its collar trim and on the outer parts of its sleeve cuffs.

The alternate kit uses the same fabric as the home shirt and shares its underarm and flank ventilation panels. The traditional print that is on the home kit is also used its outside upper back. The BFU crest is embroidered on the left breast area.

Both jerseys have minimal Joma logos with just the Spanish brand’s “J” embroidered on their right breast areas and screen-printed on their upper shoulders.

Fit and Feel

The Bulgaria 2018/19 Joma home and away kits fit true to size. They are quite formfitting and will really show the best of athletic physiques from arms to shoulders to six pack abs.

The shirts are extremely lightweight and comfortable whether worn for casual use, playing soccer or training. The material from which they are make is clearly state of the art and keeps you dry and cool.
