Campeonato Brasileiro Série A side Associação Chapecoense de Futebol will debut a special edition 2017/18 Umbro kit when they meet FC Barcelona in the Joan Gamper Trophy at the Camp Nou on Monday.
The jersey uses Chape’s traditional away white with a green Umbro logo and collar trim. Seventy one stars are printed on the front and back of the shirt. They symbolize the victims of the tragic plane crash in which most of Chapecoense’s first team, training staff and a several journalists died last November en route the first leg of the 2016 Copa Sudamericana Final.
The Chapecoense 2017/18 Umbro special edition kit will also be worn in a friendly against Japan’s Urawa Reds on August 15th.
Rebuilt with a host of loan players and new signings, Chapecoense are currently in fourteenth place in Brazil’s Série A after eighteen matches played in the 2017 season.
