Despite naming what manager Joachim Löw calls a “prospect squad” for the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup, Germany is arguably the favorite to take home the tournament title this summer.
This is our world exclusive up-close look at the 2017 adidas home kit that a Die Mannschaft (The National Team) featuring the likes of Emre Can (Liverpool), Julian Draxler (Paris Saint-Germain) and Shkodran Mustafi (Arsenal) will be wearing in Russia. It will also be worn by Germany for the rest of their 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification campaign.
Where to Buy the Germany 2017 Confederations Cup adidas Home Kit
The Germany 2017 Confederations Cup adidas home kit is now available at online soccer megastore UK Soccer Shop. The football shirt specialists also carry the popular 2017 German away jersey along with the team’s latest training and leisure ranges.
Given Germany’s stature as four-time and defending FIFA World Cup champions it comes as no surprise that adidas has once again created a bespoke design for the latest home shirt. The design is not currently used for any other of the sportswear giant’s many federation or club shirts and is not part of their 2017/18 soccer team wear catalog.
The replica shirt has a modern cut featuring a ribbed v-neck collar and moisture dissipating adidas Climacool fabric. The authentic or player issue version has added ventilation on its back and uses the firm’s even lighter adizero material. The Deutscher Fussball Bund (DFB) crest is embroidered on it right breast with four stars representing Germany’s World Cup titles applied above it via a 3D application.
The Germany 2017 Confederations Cup home kit is in the world famous white of Die Mannschaft. The traditional black detailing of German primary shirts comes in the form of three adidas threes stripes sewn onto the shoulders. The red, yellow and black of the German national flag trims the jersey’s collar for a touch of national pride.
“DIE MANNSCHAFT” is printed in black on the outside upper back of the kit in an ode to the team’s popular nickname. A DFB crest is included in the print between the two words for a nice touch.
The highlight of the latest Germany home kit is the incorporation of a repeating geometric pattern on the front and sleeve cuffs. The tonal print in taken from the Germany away kit worn from 1988 to 1990 and at the 1990 FIFA World Cup Final in which the team triumphed to win their third world championship.
It’s a clever additional on the part of adidas’ designers that brings a classic element from one of Germany’s most-remembered kits to the shirt. The material used for the jersey is a shiny polyester blend that resembles the materials used for adidas kits of the 1990s. This works well to support the design on the front of the shirt.
Lastly, the Germany 2017 Confederations Cup adidas home kit has the official golden FIFA World Cup Champions badge stitched on its mid-breast area in between the adidas logo and DFB badge. It will be the next to last German shirt to carry the prestigious shield unless the team repeats as world champions at Russia 2018.
Fit and Feel
The Germany 2017 Confederations Cup adidas home kit fits true to size with ample room for movement. It is not a formfitting shirt and can accommodate a variety of body shapes (no six pack required). We recommend buying it in your normal shirt size.
The Climacool fabric used for the kit is smooth and silky on the skin and does dry quickly when wet. We’ve seen many authentic shirts that are not as comfortable or well-performing. Ventilated flanks add to the jersey’s cooling effect further. We also like the fact that the material is not a knit and is therefore less likely to become snagged when pulled by opponents during match play.
The Germany 2017 Confederations Cup home kit is a brilliant effort from adidas that incorporates modern football shirt technology with tradition while celebrating the team’s many triumphs on the world stage. It is one of the more unique and better looking federation shirts out today and definitely a worthy addition to any football shirt collection.
