Schalke 04 2013/14 adidas Away Kit

German Bundesliga side FC Schalke 04 has released its 2013/14 adidas away kit in conjunction with the re-signing of highly rated German international midfielder Julian Draxler until 2018.

According to the Schalke 04 English language website: The white kit with the thin light-blue pinstripes has done its job. From next season the Schalke players will revert to a classic, almost purist look away from home.

The pinstripes have gone, as has light blue as the second colour. Instead, a powerful navy blue is predominant – on the shorts, the stripes on the sleeves and socks, and the collar – and a sharp-edged vee-block has been inserted underneath the round neckline.

Previous home shirts have included quotes drawing on the club’s tradition and the Royal Blue credo (“A thousand friends standing together”, “Blue and white, how I love you”), and this is now the case with the new away shirt. The back of the neck features the Schalke logo and wording based on the club mission statement: “We live you. With pride and passion”.

“This is the first time we have taken an idea from our mission statement and incorporated two of the club’s most important promises, ‘Pride and Passion’, in a new away shirt,” said marketing director Alexander Jobst. “With its classic colours and retro style the shirt is sure to prove very popular.”

Besides the attractive design, the shirt also features the latest adidas technologies. ClimaCool uses extremely lightweight materials to transport moisture away from the skin, while breathable mesh inserts and special ventilation zones make for added wear comfort.

The Royal Blues will, of course, unveil a new third strip ahead of the new season, but this will remain a surprise for now. What can be said is that the successor to the Ultra Beauty shirt will uphold the history and tradition of FC Gelsenkirchen-Schalke 04 e.V.
