Video: Mexico 2 –Guatemala 1 (CONCACAF Gold Cup 2011 Highlights)

Mexico came from a goal down to defeat to defeat Guatemala 2-1 in the quarter-finals of the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup on Saturday night at the New Meadowlands Stadium in New Jersey.

Veteran striker Carlos Ruiz put Guatemala up 1-0 in the 5th minute when he lobbed Elias Enoc Vasquez ‘s long ball over Mexican goalkeeper Alfredo Talavera. Mexico responded with a siege on the Guatemalan goal that saw Aldo De Nigris score in the 48th minute and Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez tap in the match winner in the 66th.

Mexico will now meet Honduras at Houston’s Reliant Stadium on Wednesday night in the Gold Cup semi-finals following the 2011 Copa Centroamericana champions’ penalty shootout win over Costa Rica.
