Germany will host the 2011 FIFA Womens’ World Cup from June 26th to July 17th. With the host nation ranked as favorites to repeat as champions and claim their third World Cup in succession, interest in the tournament is high among Germans.
This has seemingly inspired the publishers the German version of Playboy magazine to do a pictorial featuring several professional women’s soccer players in its July 2011 edition.
While no members of the Senior German Women’s National Soccer Team or Frauen-Nationalmannschaft appear in the feature, German Under-19 players Annika Doppler and Ivana Rudelic and Under-23 Julia Simic (all from the Bayern Munich womens’ club side) appear in the shoot. Kristina Gessat of FSV Gütersloh and Selina Wagner of VfL Wolfsburg complete the cast.
