Video: Real Madrid 2 –Peñarol 0 (Trofeo Santiago Bernabeu Highlights)

Real Madrid ended their 2010 pre-season undefeated with a 2-0 win over Uruguayan champions Peñarol in the 32nd edition of the Santiago Bernabeu Trophy yesterday.

With new signings Sami Khedira and Mesut Özil in the starting lineup, Real launched an onslaught on their opponents’ goal that saw Xabi Alonso hit the post in the 2nd minute and Gonzalo Higuain have a goal disallowed in the 7th.

However, it was not until the 68th minute that the hosts were able to break the deadlock as substitute Ángel di María dribbled past the Peñarol defence to make the score 1-0.

Rafael Van der Vaart’s penalty conversion in the 93rd sealed the game for Real Madrid.
